Grinding an edge to the marked line. I was young and foolish, and notice
that I wasn't wearing safety glasses in this shot, although I usually
did. Don't try this at home without safety glasses. Even with safety glasses
and a face shield, I still got pretty adept at taking steel grit out of
my eyes with a sterilized sewing needle. Went through a total of about
350 grinding discs all told, mostly 9" and 4 1/2". The smaller
grinders are a great convenience, and it's tempting to use them for everything,
but you get more work done faster with the big one. This is a 4 1/2"
Metabo, which is a very good tool, but my 9" Milwaukee is the only
hand electric tool that lasted the entire length of the project... close
to 30 years and still going.
